Someone once said that “Every marriage is its own country.” This may be an apt metaphor, considering the many delicate negotiations, considerations and compromises it takes to maintain even the smallest of civilized nations. But a country is so much more than the sum of its laws. In fact, some countries are considered great because of the way in which they toss aside old laws in favor of new truths. Or how they maintain a vision and appetite for freedom, and continuously work towards the greater ideals of the human condition. Or the ways in which they support those who cannot support themselves in times of need. This is the type of country a marriage should be said to resemble. Vibrant. Valiant. Victorious.
